Booked! Camera Technique for the Film Set (Level 3)

You booked the role. Congratulations!!! Now what?

Booking an on-camera role in a professional project is, in itself, a major achievement. But how do you develop the necessary skills to do your best work as an actor when you are dealing with the pressure of being on the set of an 80 million dollar movie in a scene opposite a major television or movie star? How do you learn to do the kind of work that wins over the hearts of producers, directors and casting professionals and gets you hired again in the future?

As a veteran film & TV actor, instructor David Vegh, can relate to this kind of pressure. His first feature film role was in a scene opposite a two-time Oscar winner for Best Actor (Tom Hanks) in a movie directed by Steven Spielberg! Since then, he has worked opposite many more Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winners and nominees, including Regina King, Helen Hunt, Taraji P. Henson and Jon Hamm.

This class will center on the fundamentals of the on-set experience as it relates to creating a role for camera. We will work on approaches to giving dynamic performances that are rooted in emotional truth and feel spontaneous & alive. We will explore creating a visible thought process and a vibrant inner life for your character, as well as making choices that activate your scene partner (no matter how many awards they have won) and create believable and nuanced relationships on screen. In addition, we will focus on incorporating some of the more technical aspects of on-camera work, such as Continuity, Working Within the Frame, Hitting Marks, Adjusting for the Shot Size, etc.
