Friday night, we’ll devote our time to a deep dive into what’s blocking you from next-level living both on camera and off. How we do anything is how we do everything. How you show up/don’t show up in life informs and affects how you show up/don’t show up in your work. Together, we’ll attempt to nail down what keeps getting in your way from reaching your potential in life and in your craft.

The N.E.W. (Neuromuscular Emotional Workout) Process

What’s got you stuck? Old thought patterns, self-doubt, fear, inability to get vulnerable? We’ve all got restricting behaviors that often get in the way of our acting career….
This class is designed to support actors on their journey of emotional and physical freedom. We’ll explore the emotional life and physicality of character. All humans are patterned for behaviors particular to their genetic makeup as well as the result of their life experiences. Many of these patterns were once very useful for navigating safely and successfully in the world, but as our needs and circumstances change, so do our deeply formed restrictive patterns need to change as well. In a very safe, fun, and supportive atmosphere, and through a variety of physical, vocal, and partnered exercises, The N.E.W. Process guides and encourages the individual to form new, more creative, and expansive ways of relating to the self, others and the work of an actor. If you’re ready to break through old, limiting patterns and replace them with new, more energized, liberated, and expansive ways of behaving, this class is for you!Pre-class prep work will be assigned immediately following registration.

The Craft (Scene Study)

Here’s where we bring it all together.
This portion of the training will be devoted solely to scene work. Actors will partner with each other to work on the essentials of the craft of acting. We’ll focus on getting clear with objectives, setting stakes, knowing the given circumstance of the scene, playing actions, and playing off their partners truthfully. We’ll explore the emotional life and the physicality of the character discovered in the N.E.W. training. Pre-class prep work will be assigned immediately following registration.

Slate Shot Sessions
Did you know Actors Access uses an algorithm to sort the auditions that are presented to casting? Submissions with both a slate shot and media (high quality self tape or reel) attached to them automatically go to the top. Without them they are filtered in the order they are submitted. You want your tape at the very top to give casting the best chance of seeing your materials and calling you in!

Tape Sessions
After you work your scene with your partner in the scene study part of the day, you have the option to put a portion of that scene on tape! This can be used as marketing material to pitch yourself with, put up on your casting profiles, or simply view your work and see the completed project. Tapes will be filmed in our HD studio with your scene partner as a reader and sent to you fully edited upon completion!
